South Africa's top destinations :
From mountain walks to shark cage-diving, South Africa has no shortage of activities for every taste. The scenery is breathtaking as well, with mountains, forests, coasts and deserts, not to forget the untouched wildelife that for decades attracted people willing to witness it in its natural habitat.
Garden Route :
From Mossel Bay to the Storms River so many landscapes, so many different kinds of vegetation and wildlife, the beaches on the coast are excellent. It all earns Garden Route its name as South Africa’s Eden. An multitude of nature reserves and museums.
Kruger National Park :
For decades this park, covering 2 million hectares almost, has attracted visitors wanting to see lions, elephants, leopards, and cheetahs, but also other species, 147 in total, of which some are endangered. There are only 400 individuals in South Africa of the African wild dogs for example...
Cape Town :
Table Mountain Cableway in Cape Town can offer 360 degree views of breath taking sights, and scenic beauty, although can be busy and will not run when too windy. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens cover over 500 hectares of Table Mountain, and are one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. The city offers an excellent choice of cafes and restaurants. The beaches of the Atlantic shore are excellent for visitors looking for a dip. The nighttime scenery is lively, with very good bar and club choices.
Robben Island :
Discover the nation’s struggle for freedom following in the footsteps of Robben Island's most known prisoner Nelson Mandela, the inspiring struggle of human endurance against unusual hardship. This has made the site one of Cape Town's most popular pilgrimage spots. After the end of the Apartheid the prison facility has been the seat of a living museum. The island is accessible through tours from Cape Town's waterfront.
Johannesburg :
South Africa’s pulsating heartbeat. The city is undergoing an incredible urban rebirth with endless opportunities for, entertainment, and fun, museums and arts galleries. Although the divide between rich and poor remains very clear.
Wild Coast :
Rugged and untamed as its name suggests, is a strip of coastline stretching from the Mtamvuna River in the north to the Great Kei River in the south. The Coast offers deserted beaches, and forests teaming with life, dolphins, horseback and hiking trails, and other sports activities. It is also possible to use all terrain vehicles, but these do not access the delicate ecosystems.
