Top world's museums that hold the world's most iconic treasures. Part 1

For those of us who enjoy the museum experience. Walking around and having your senses inundated with beautiful, priceless, and ancient works of art, that make us travel across ages, hop between continents, witness the grandeur of age old civilizations. The experience is rich and exhilarating, as close and personal an encounter as can be with the greats in arts, architecture, literature, and history as a whole. It is like bearing witness to the evolution of artistic practices around the world corners and through millennia. These museums encase within their walls full chapters of our history and how we came to be what we are today. The story of us.

Yet there are some of those museums that are in a league of their own, the reason being, they hold some of the worlds greatest treasures, pieces that are so renown and priceless and iconic that seeing them first hand is a very memorable event in its self, for anyone lucky enough to be there and witness them first hand.

Here we will discover some of these peieces, known and obscure, in the worlds top museums.

 

The world's most valuable artefacts and where they are:

 

let's start In New York, home to not just one but many of the world's premiere museums. First is The Metropolitan Museum of Art, home to some very beautiful artefacts, spanning through ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. other sections have isles full of priceless golden artifacts, African art, royal and aristocratic decores and tons more...  The cloisters, a branch of the museum, showcases the art and architecture of medieval Europe. 

Washington Crossing the Delaware by Emanuel Leutze, Vincent van Gogh's Self-Portrait, Pablo Picasso's The Oil Mill, are only a few of the museums many famous pieces...

Not too far away is the Museums of Natural History, with it's  Akeley Hall of African Mammals collection, showcasing lifelike wildlife, artfully exhibited in diorama settings that mimics the natural habitats of the world's big fauna. This technique was pioneered by taxidermist Carl Akeley. The main hall, with it's T-Rex fossil is world famous thanks to the movie series" Nights At The Museum". For space lovers, the museum houses the Hayden Planetarium, offering space shows narrated by big stars.

 The Museum Of modern Art or MOMA, has close to 80 thousand pieces some of which you read about in books, or magazines, and it is absolutely awe inspiring when you find yourself staring at a painting by Van Gogh, Braque, Matisse, Gauguin, Cézanne, or Picasso...

 

 

Across the ocean, in Paris, The Louvre is a must see for the millions of people that visit the city of love every year. The world's largest art museum has within its walls some very iconic art pieces. Ranging from Egyptian and Near Eastern antiquities, to Etruscan, Greek and Roman, and Islamic. Not to mention sculptures, paintings, prints and drawings.  DaVinci's The Monalisa, Delacroix's Liberty Leading the People, The Seated Scribe from Saqqara, are among some of the world's masterpieces that call the Louvre home.

 

 

The British museum, with its Greek temple style portico, needs no introductions. This powerhouse of human history, art and culture, houses more than 8 million works of art and artefacts showcasing the story of human culture from the early beginnings to the present. With pieces hailing from every continent, and the far flung corners of the former British empire. Its collections range from ancient through Greek and Roman, middle eastern, British and European Prehistory, prints and drawings, scientific research and conservation, coins and medals etc...The Rosetta Stone, the Sumerian Queen's Lyre, the Gebelein predynastic mummy dating back to 3400 BC, the Egyptian Book of the Dead of Hunefer from 1250 BC.  The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. And many many more, some of which as disputed artefacts, like the Oxus Treasure, and the Rosetta Stone...The Museum of natural History in London which used to be part of the British Museum is a must see, rich in unique pieces.
