Banff, in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, is a winter tourist town nestled in the mountains. It is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it offers some beautiful mountain scenery.
From the main street, Banff avenue, the visitor is presented with the dominating presence and majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The town is one of the best to enjoy the amazing scenery of the Canadian Rockies. Walking, hiking, Snowshoeing, offer the most intimate experience of the area, Banff has many trails leading to forest areas, with scenic views of lakes, streams and and even waterfalls. It is possible to enjoy all of that by vehicle, there is no shortage of companies that would for a fee of course, make your trip comfortable, while covering most of Banff's sites with ease. Evenings are great for campfires
Overall public transport, hotels and other accommodations are excellent for this seasonal destination. And the area is very accessible from the neighboring bigger towns. But generally, anything in town is accessible on foot.
Popular among Banff vacation goers are lakes Moraine and Louise, and Victoria Glacier.
The scenery is not the only attribute liked by visitors.
Wildlife, either in the surroundings or in one of the parks. Shopping can be easily done, although there are way too many souvenir shops. The town has a multitude of restaurants and clubs and many more activities. The historical Hot Springs called The Cave and Basin, are popular, but above all, skiing. Banff, so has it, is home to some world class ski resorts such as Lake Louise ski resort Norquay, Nakiska and Sunshine Village.
Although it can be crowded, Banff is a charming small town and offers the real Canadian Rockies experience.
